After nearly a year of waiting, we are absolutely LOVING having our beloved campers here again! In addition to some pictures from our opening day, here is a word from our Directors, brothers Jeffrey Trufant and Adam Trufant:

Jeffrey: “This morning was delightful. Perfect weather. Joy to see so many old faces returning. We only had a handful of new campers at the boys camp. We are taking new efforts for even our administration staff to be unplugged throughout the summer and you could feel that. We’re so excited for the connection to the campers we’ll make while they’re fully plugged into one another’s presence and getting to know each other. You could immediately sense the incredibly supportive environment as counselors and campers got to know each other and the excitement as old friends reunited. Boys camp dining hall was loud – breaking out into spontaneous singing and chants. We finished the first meal and began our first afternoon together as we began each day from here on out: with the camp prayer.”

Adam: “There are some things that spark such joy on opening day: that first wave of song in the Dining Hall, the peaceful order of the bell, the way old friendships click back in place so effortlessly, and the depth and reverence of the opening campfire. Our ladies at Kahdalea had a wonderful day – the energy was high and our campers found their step quickly. At the end of our day, around the campfire, our campers and staff were challenged to develop a vision for their time at camp in the way of goals, activity and character (or “heart”) goals. The peace in the air was palpable as the entire camp community passed along a woodland path listening to the singing voices of our Junior Counselors …’as we come to our campfire with measure tread and slow, to light the fire of all we aspire and all we’ve come to know‘…”
