Hello friends!
It’s a joy to share some of the fun and exciting new things popping up around camp! Front and center this Spring is our budding Gardening and Homesteading Program. What is shown here is phase one of a multi year plan to cultivate an area of Kahdalea for an introductory program to gardening and homesteading. As you can see, our first two members of our homesteading clan have arrived! Meet Lucy and Susan, our camp sheep 🙂

Another fun and exciting aspect of 2025 will be an especially sweet addition 🙂 Starting this weekend, we will welcome some honey bees to our property on the border of Kahdalea! The hives will be set apart from the main thoroughfares for our campers and staff, and these honey bees will be over seen by Brigid and Ana Trufant, pictured below with Anne Trufant in their bee suits. We’re all loving these new additions and can’t wait to share them with the campers!

Leading up our new program will be a good friend and local homesteader named Dahlia! Dahlia and her husband, Nick, have been friends of CKC for some time now, and we could not be more excited to have her join the team.
Dahlia is passionate about connecting children with the natural world in a more experiential way. Gardening and Homesteading include practical skills that can accompany campers throughout their entire lives and enrich their own families when they return home. Our programs will teach the basics of plant and animal care, and show our campers a path forward for creating their own gardens in the future. Whenever possible, what is grown in the garden will also find its way into our kitchens for meals! We’re very hopeful to increase this program in the future and excited to launch on these first steps in 2025.
