Other info:
Concerning First Time Skiers: Steamboat is a terrific ski area and a wonderful mountain for first time skiers and snow boarders. It also has a reputation as being a family-friendly ski mountain as the slopes are generally not as steep as some of the other Colorado resorts. In an effort to make this adventure as accessible and fun as possible, CKC Staff offer a minimum of one complimentary ski lesson on the mountain to help first-time skiers get up and running! There are always first-timers accompanying our trip, so you are not alone. Folks who take the opportunity to stretch themselves and learn a new skill are often the ones who report the highest satisfaction at the end of this trip.
Food: Each condo is furnished with a kitchen complete with an oven, microwave, refrigerator and freezer, and coffee pot. The kitchens are also supplied with pots, pans, plates, glasses, silverware, etc. to make meal preparation easy and fun. There are grocery stores nearby or you can bring your own food. Meals are arranged according to the needs of each room, but typically each room arranges for communal dinners and breakfast/lunch is more on an individual basis. Complimentary shuttles that bring you around town provided by the town of Steamboat Springs which make dining out an easy option as well.
Lift Tickets: While the price includes 3 full days of lift tickets, you can add up to two days of extra lift tickets at a discount for ~$125 per person per day. Lift ticket days do not have to be used in a consecutive fashion. You can take a day off without your total number of days being affected so long as you do not scan at the gondola or the ski lift. Children 12 & under get special deals with Steamboat and it is encouraged to inquire with the Backpacker in Baton Rouge, LA for more details.
Room Arrangements: There are hot tubs, fireplaces, and cozy condos awaiting your family or group of camp friends. Unless you have communicated with the CKC staff and arranged for your own room or condo, room arrangements are casual and somewhat random with consideration given to grouping folks as chosmen and kahdaladies in order to maintain privacy and for ease of living arrangement. We can work with you to make sure you are as satisfied as possible.
Feel free to ask about arranging three in a four person room (or a larger room) if you wish for a little bit extra per person.
Families: Interested in bringing your children? Families are welcome! We are able to accommodate families with their own private condo rooms and kitchens when families are registered in a timely manner. While the cost below reflects the price-per-pillow, there is no cost per night for families who opt to bring camping/air mattresses. For example, a condo that sleeps four could accommodate a larger family for the lodging price of only 4 individuals.
Ski/Snowboard Rental: Ski rentals are not covered in the cost of the trip and can be secured through the Backpacker form above or through the SkiHaus website.
Travel to/from Denver or Hayden (Steamboat) Airports: While everyone is responsible for arranging their own transportation to/from Steamboat Springs, there are shuttles to and from the Denver airport (~3 hrs) and the nearby Hayden airport (~45 mins) to Steamboat available which make this transit accessible without a personal vehicle. Check this website for more shuttle info.
